Other useful things

We encourage theatre-goers to not only tip up with picnic hampers, but to also bring cushions to keep you comfy – and blankets to keep you warm (it gets much cooler once the sun goes down) Also, don’t forget a waterproof jacket/sun cream! -see Sunny Weather below.

Families

Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is a very family friendly venue and we welcome children of all ages. There are also lots of concessions for families and young people [above].

Sunny Weather

Grosvenor Park Open Air theatre is unique –  the stage and some of  the seating areas are uncovered and open to the elements. Being outside, in the charming setting of Grosvenor Park will be an integral part of your (and the actors’!) experience. We’ve witnessed some gloriously balmy afternoons, inspiring sunsets and even the odd thunderstorm. It’s all part of the wonderful experience of being outdoors. If you’re worried, buy a covered seat!

Our advice is to come as prepared as possible – for all types of weather. For afternoon matinées bring a shady hat, sun screen and sunglasses, and for  evening performances we would recommend bringing a warm jumper/coat – as it can cool right down after the sun has set.

Raincoats are recommended; you may bring an umbrella but please refrain from using it during the performance if it’s obscuring someone’s view. We will have ponchos to buy at the theatre.

Occasionally very bad weather may mean we have to stop and re-start the show, with a maximum 60 minutes delay allowed. We have a covered marquee area for audiences in uncovered seats to take shelter. If bad weather continues beyond 60 minutes, we may have to cancel the show. In this instance, audiences will be fully refunded and invited to attend another performance for free.

It’s important for you to know that we will never cancel a performance before the advertised start time, as the weather can change very quickly. If you do have any queries on the day, you can contact us on 01244 409113.

We have only cancelled one show in over 300…..

Times

All evening performances start at 7.30pm.  Matinées start at 2pm on weekdays & Saturdays, 12 noon on Sundays. The tea time performance on a Sunday starts at 4:30pm. The theatre is open an hour beforehand to settle in, grab a seat and start on your picnic. There are no performances on Mondays.

Performance

This is a full size professional theatre company performing in repertory. One cast, working very hard, on three shows…
